The SFR Freeskiing tour is in Val Thorens from 19th to 21st December including Slopestyle and Halfpipe competitions
After Alpe d’Huez, the “Ski Force Winter Tour” moves to Val Thorens for the weekend of 17th and 18th December. This gives the public the chance to test skis from 16 different manufacturers free of charge: Atomic, Blizzard, Dynastar, Elan, Head, Heidiskis, K2, Kastle, Movement, Nordica, Rossignol, Salomon, Scott, Volkl and White-Doctor.
As part of the “Ski Force Winter Tour”, fifteen ski manufacturers will have 700 pairs of skis available for testing at Alpe d’Huez tomorrow and Sunday. The ski testing is free to the general public, and can be found at the bottom of the Bergers piste.
The Ladies World Cup Slalom and GS races due to take place in Courchevel on the 17th and 18th December are still in doubt, despite the recent snow. The FIS verdict on whether the race will go ahead is due tomorrow.
La Plagne is celebrating its 50th birthday with a “son et lumière” show at the Front de Neige on Wednesday 21st December.
Due to lack of snow, three of the four World Cup races due to be held in Val d’Isère on the 10th and 11th December have been cancelled, and will instead be held in Beaver Creek, Colorado.
During the ski season, Méribel hosts a giant slalom race every Thursday evening at the Stade de Corbey, La Chaudanne. The race is open to all, and admission is free. It generally includes all standards, from intermediate holiday makers to local kids from the race teams. To participate, you will need to register for the “Coupe de Méribel” at the tourist ofiice before Wednesday afternoon. Then simply turn up at the stade on Thursday before 6pm, find your start number on the list, grab your bib, and go for glory.
The Delancy British Apline Championships will again be held in Méribel this season. The senior races take place from 25th March to 2nd April, and the Children’s from 3rd to 6th April.
Every Wednesday evening, from 21st December until 7th March, the Family Park on the floodlit Verdons piste will be open for skiing back to Courchevel 1850, accompanied by music.

The 3 Vallées Enduro celebrates it’s 10th birthday this season! Previously the X-Wing Rally, this is one of the biggest events held across les 3 Vallées, and is open to everyone. Teams of 3 (boarders, skiers or telemarkers) compete in airbag, freeride, skiercross, speed skiing, slalom and derby in a friendly contest with prizes, food and drink.
